Elizabeth Warren was a woman in a patriarchal society on Oct 20 when she peaked in the polls. Vegas oddsmakers had her as the 2–to-1 favorite at the time.

Did the United States suddenly become more sexist right after that or did something else happen?

She made a choice to move to the center. It was a risk and she paid for it. Feminism means not reducing women to their gender. It means not fetishizing women as being inherently more moral or “better.” Women can be shrewd. Women can be opportunistic. They can make political errors and suffer for them.
