I get the feeling you stopped reading at that sentence, because you’re responding to an argument I’m not making. If you did read the whole thing, then you missed the point.
Obviously, the systematic extermination of an entire people is not something a single person can do alone, but that is the desired political objective of most of the alt-right.
Some want to do it through the legitimate political process. Some will just settle for killing brown people.
You mentioned Spencer. You don’t think he wants genocide? He talks about “peaceful ethnic cleansing” and “voluntary self-deportation” He and others like him, e.g. Identity Evropa/The American Identity Movement, are just more coy about their objectives.
The thesis I’m presenting is that the far-right is frustrated by their inability to carry out their genocidal program on a large scale, so they do the next best thing and kill as many Jews/Muslims/immigrants, etc. as possible in the hopes that it will inspire other attacks.
I’d also like to point out that, historically, genocides didn’t just start with death camps. They were almost always preceded by some incitement to violence from above, like the pogroms in Russia, Poland and Romania. Thankfully, there’s not yet a critical mass of Islamophobes to carry out pogroms, but there are hundreds of thousands of neo-Nazis out there self-radicalizing on 4chan/8chan, who will respond to demonization from the likes of people like Trump.
Trump and the surge of right populism throughout the world have emboldened white-nationalists but there’s also a split between the segment of the far-right that has taken power and the more radical elements, who are increasingly disillusioned with politicians’ inability to deliver the goods.
Take the shootings in Poway for example. The shooter was an anti-Trump Nazi. Another man was brought before the court in Kent, WA, just last week for threatening to bomb synagogues and attack Trump’s family.
The bottom line is when it comes to normal political goals, those who support them have no choice but to engage in the long slog of politics and build mass support. Take me: I want universal healthcare. I can’t just go on a lone wolf “healthcare rampage” and dole out free insulin. If a Nazi wants brown people dead, he can get a gun and kill brown people, hence “DIY genocide.”
Don’t get hung up semantics/pedantry.
