I get your overall point but isn’t the term POC by definition “US-centric?” By which I mean it’s a category defined in opposition to American white supremacy.

I get that you’re talking about the word in a post-colonial framework, as in the West v. The Global South, but in a certain specific national context it might not make sense at all. An example that comes to mind is Indians in South Africa. I don’t think many of them think of themselves as POC or feel a sense of solidarity with black South Africans.
