It’s about the reproduction of social class and lack of social mobility at all levels. I’m sure your friends who got law degrees did very well for themselves. They were also people who could afford to get law degrees. How many of them ended up in places vastly different from where they started? Maybe some, but statistically not many because social mobility is at a 100 year low.
