Noting these things in passing and then saying “Aww, shucks everybody makes mistakes” is a far cry from confronting these “blunders” and giving them the reflection that they deserve.
It seems you are only considering these issues insofar as they would affect his chances at beating Trump, but these aren’t Oopsiedoodles. Joe Biden had a chance to not only give justice to Anita Hill but also to block the lifetime appointment of one of the staunchest conservatives of the Supreme Court. Let me be blunt: He failed because he’s a weak coward who is more concerned with his political career than he is with doing right and pursuing the interests of women or ordinary people.
You mention “plagiarism” in the same breath as the “Iraq War” as if cribbing a speech from some Labour leader has the same moral weight as voting for a war based that killed half a million men, women and children, and cost the country $6 trillion that could have forgiven college debt, given loans to future homeowners, and created healthcare for all. Once again, he did it for his career. It was politically popular. Let me stress this again: Biden is a weak, conservative coward
He is not only a coward—he is hopelessly venal. They don’t call him the “Senator from MBNA” for nothing. Does every politician’s crackhead failson get a six figure job?
This is a man who, for most of his political career, believed that a woman doesn’t have a right to control her own body. He literally said that and apparently believed it until he opportunistically flipped —ahem, I mean he “evolved”—on the Hyde Amendment in 2019.
Assuming Joe Biden could even beat Trump. So what? He wins just to perpetuate the rot that gave rise to Trump. And after years of constantly “reaching across the aisle” and giving in to every GOP temper tantrum, he’ll be replaced by someone just like Trump but more competent—a naked white nationalist psychopath authoritarian who is actually good at being a naked white nationalist psychopath authoritarian.
And he’ll roll right over the weak, cowardly opposition party that our complacency has given birth to.
