Okay so a few points. Even if RussiaGate is bullshit (I hold that opinion), there’s no way Trump isn’t at least committing one crime that warrants impeachment. The guy settled a civil case on his fraudulent university before even taking office. There’s almost certainly violations of the emoluments clause. There are likely dozens of conflicts of interests resulting from him still effectively running the Trump Organization (if you think his idiot sons are actually running things, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.) It’s also fairly certain that he committed obstruction of justice somewhere along the way.

That said, I think pursuing impeachment at this point is a dead end. Still, the opposition pursuing impeachment against a president for impeachable offenses is hardly a conspiracy. The GOP would have impeached Obama in a heartbeat if he did even one of these things.

Second, I’ve heard this argument from Pelosi that Dems need to win by such a large margin that Trump won’t contest the results. I think this is ludicrous and it’s obviously aimed at scaring voters away from Bernie and into the arms of a moderate establishment Dem like Biden. They can’t cry “electability” because everyone knows this is bullshit and Sanders is just as “electable”—maybe more so—than Biden, so they have to shift the goalposts.

Either way Trump will contest the results, and all the QAnon nutters will still think it’s rigged. That’s the entire point of the article. We aren’t dealing with normal people who look at the world in a normal way.

We can’t let how we act be determined by the expected response of a bunch of bleach-drinking kooks.
