Political philosophy draws a distinction between positive and negative freedom. Negative freedom is “freedom from” whereas positive freedom is “freedom to.” So liberty vs. rights. Conservatives emphasize the former whereas liberals and leftists tend to emphasize the latter. But I don’t necessarily think think these concepts are antagonistic.
