Back in the late 90s a group called the Asatru Folk Assembly, currently labeled a hate group by SPLC, got in a legal battle with some Native Americans over the remains of a skeleton called Kennewick Man on the basis of the fringe archeological theory.

One of the researchers had described him as having “Caucasoid” features,, which gave these loons the ammunition they needed to claim he was a European ancestor.
