Yeah, I know the stories you’re talking about because I’m getting the same ones, but on the other hand, I’ve also been seeing more stories I’m genuinely interested in than in the past.

I used to get a bunch of stuff that I wasn’t even remotely interested in, like articles about programming and UI and whatnot. At least it’s starting to send me political articles now, even if some are trash.

Medium’s recommendation algorithm has always been bad, but I actually think it’s moving in the right direction even if they still haven’t gotten the bugs out.

It also could be that this is by design. I know Facebook used to gear its algorithm toward controversy because political disagreement drove engagement, ie if people saw stuff that enraged them, they would reply more.
