Yeah, that’s an absolutely ridiculous point. I just got laid off from my day job. Between that and my writing I make less than $2400 a month, which is the minimum wage for the place where I live. I spend almost half my post tax income on rent.
The fact that you’re trying to make this personally about me reads as you defensively lashing out at me for challenging the notion that billionaires aren’t that generous.
Their wealth and charity is a matter of public interest since they are a handful of people who control the vast majority of wealth. I am a nobody who’s barely getting by.
They gave $25 million to fund research. Great. A 2% tax on their wealth would yield 100 times that much to pay for not only research but also treatment, PPE, hospital equipment, relief, etc.
Why do they deserve kudos for tossing us these crumbs?
