Yeah, you're 100% correct about this. I started writing on NewsBreak because I thought it would be a good outlet for my journalism, since it's locally focus and my local articles don't play well on Medium. I specialize in reporting on the Seattle police. I broke a lot of stories about police misconduct, like actual investigative journalism, and they don't get much play on the site.

One of the top stories from the Creator Program is "3 Famous People Who Live in Seattle" and it reads like it was just all cribbed from Wikipedia.

I checked out the guy who wrote it and he has like 37,000 followers on there. His name is Matthew Lilywhite (he's also on Medium and also has a shitload of followers). He's from Texas but he just writes a lot of these junk articles targeting different localities. He does clickbait and a lot of cheap scare stories about immigrants or deadly diseases.

I admire the hustle though because he has to publish like 10-15 of these a day. Like he's got a system for just churning them out.

If you want to write about absolute bullshit all the time, you could probably make some decent money on there. Maybe I should use a pen name and start doing the same schlock.
