Yes, but there’s still a lot of daylight between Biden and Bernie on the issue of crime. Their voting records diverge on several other crime bills, and their justifications for that particular crime bill differed greatly.

Throughout his career, Sanders made a point of emphasizing the root causes of crime, whereas Biden took to the Senate floor to give a speech that sounded like a soliloquy from Death Wish, in which he said he “didn’t care” why criminals were criminals.

These might seem like matters of rhetorical style, but they speak to deeper difference in fundamental ideology that matters.
