Yes, that’s clear. The point is that, from my brief interactions with you, I’ve gathered that you conceive of participating in the electoral process as the alpha and omega of political activity.

According to you, if I don’t vote, then I “don’t care about people.” Frankly that’s a bunch of self-righteous horseshit if you don’t do anything besides vote or “work on a few campaigns.” Doing politics means organizing at a grassroots level. For instance, I’m involved with raising money for the Fair Fight Bond Fund, which helps pay exorbitant bond costs for detainees so they can organize a legal defense.

Under Obama, immigrants got screwed over, but quietly. Under Trump, immigrants got screwed over, but loudly. If Hillary had won, do you think she wouldn’t have separated families and ruined lots of lives?

Defeating and dismantling ICE, providing material support to people who are affected by deportations—this is “doing politics” and it requires a sustained, organized effort that has to continue regardless of who is in office.

Spare me the goddamn sermons.
